How to Show or Hide File Extensions In Windows 8

Since Windows 8 has been released for both Tablets and Desktops, some functions have become very user friendly and easy to implement for users while others have been made difficult. The choice is between a pointing device like a mouse or touch friendly screen. For example, the start menu has been removed. The users who have been using the start menu for ages and have been accustomed to it will feel annoyed and it will take some time to get familiar with the new Metro interface.

If you frequently use Windows  Explorer, you may be familiar with how to show or hide file extensions in Windows 7 or earlier versions of Windows. It was always the same like going to Tools –> Folder Options –> View. Since Windows 8 comes with the ribbon interface, this has changed. In my opinion, the ribbon interface has made it easier to show or hide file extensions in Windows 8. Not you can easily show or hide file extension by going to the View ribbon tab and checking the option “File name extensions”.

If you want to go advanced, you can click on the Options menu under View ribbon tab and select “Change folder and search options”. Then click on the View tab in order to bring the same options interface as you are familiar in Windows 7.
