How to Show or Hide File Extensions In Windows 8

Saturday, January 31, 2015 /
Since Windows 8 has been released for both Tablets and Desktops, some functions have become very user friendly and easy to implement for users while others have been made difficult. The choice is between a pointing device like a mouse or touch friendly screen. For example, the start menu has been removed. The users who have been using the start menu for ages and have been accustomed to it will feel annoyed and it will take some time to get familiar with the new Metro interface.

If you frequently use Windows  Explorer, you may be familiar with how to show or hide file extensions in Windows 7 or earlier versions of Windows. It was always the same like going to Tools –> Folder Options –> View. Since Windows 8 comes with the ribbon interface, this has changed. In my opinion, the ribbon interface has made it easier to show or hide file extensions in Windows 8. Not you can easily show or hide file extension by going to the View ribbon tab and checking the option “File name extensions”.

How to Send Large Files And Folders Online With uTorrent

/
No email system or instant messenger allows the user to send large files online. If you have a big video, or a movie or a lot of pictures to send, you should take the concept of ‘mailing them’ out of your mind. For Google, you can only send a maximum file size of 25 MB. Most other email services will use the same limit. Uploading files to cloud storage takes a lot of time. Even downloading them is not an easy task.

If you have huge amounts of data and want to send it to your friends, uTorrent can do the transfer work for you without actually uploading the data online. Since uTorrent works for all platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac OS etc., this method should work on all Operating Systems. We will be running this tutorial on Windows 8.

The benefit of downloading files through uTorrent is that the downloads can be queued and can actually be “resumed” when the source (where the original files reside) becomes available. In this article, we will go through how to send large files through uTorrent with resuming capabilities.

How To Extend 30 Day Trial Software To Run Forever

Wednesday, January 28, 2015 /
If you have recently downloaded a trial software and want to test it for more than the trial period which is normally 30 days, this article is exactly for you. This article describes different ways to extend the trial period of trial software.

The below methods will not be able to get you complete software. If the trial version of the software runs with limitations, they will still run in limitation as the trial software will always remain in trial using these methods.

Please note that we are suggesting these ways only for people who want to evaluate the software for more than 30 days and then buy the software. It is always recommended to buy a software if you like it. This will help the developers keep the software up to date.

The best way to use the software in extended evaluation is to contact the software vendor and ask them for an extended evaluation time. They will most probably entertain your request and give you some extended evaluation time.

Reinstall the software/Reset Date and Time

The easiest way to reset a trial version of the software is that you can uninstall it and then re-install it again. This will reset the trial  version. Most modern software use advanced techniques and will not allow you to reset the trial version of the software even after re-installation.

The other workaround is to play with your system date and time. You can adjust your system clock to a earlier date after installing the software. The software will continue to work as it uses the system date to see if the 30 day trial period is over or not. Most modern software have protection against this method. If these two methods fail, you may see the next method.

If anyone is using this trick, he may well be losing loyal visitors and even customers. Anyways the solution to this problem is quite simple. Let’s do it for all three browsers.

It will automatically disable Windows Update from automatic restarts. When you run the utility, it will ask administrative privileges and then give a success or failure result.

2. Using Group Policy Editor

If you are using Windows 8 Professional or Ultimate editions, you will be able to use the Group Policy Editor to disable Windows Update restart notifications. Follow the steps below:
